During this exercise, you will assume the role of a police constable and you will be required to answer questions in order to deal with a number of issues presented to you.
You will be assessed on the following competencies and values from the Competency & Values Framework that are important for police constables:
You will be presented with some initial information about the exercise. You should take approximately 10 minutes to independently read the preparation materials and consider your response to part one of the scenario.
You’ll then be given 12 questions and approximately 50 minutes to answer them.
Each question will be split into three parts: part 1 is the initial scenario and in parts 2 and 3, you’ll be given new information to consider.
Please note the timings will vary if you have any reasonable adjustments.
For this stage of the application process, you’ll need a laptop, desktop computer or tablet, and to ensure you have strong internet connection via Wi-Fi. Before starting, check to see if you have the latest version of your chosen internet browser installed.
You’ll find out if you’ve passed the online assessment at a later date. Your recruiting force will provide you with information about how and when you’ll receive your results.
If you have any condition that might cause you to be disadvantaged during the online assessment process, temporary or otherwise (for example pregnancy, injury, medical conditions, disability or neurodivergence such as dyslexia and autism) you may be entitled to an accommodation or reasonable adjustment.
You can find out more about the online assessment process and the reasonable adjustments provided at Sift and online assessment process | College of Policing.
